Ajay Arya's resume
I'm interested in characterizing the metabolic activities of environmental microbes and expressing key enzymes in model organisms to solve problems related to the production of biochemicals or to bioremediation. Many important tools including X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy, and bioinformatics have played a critical role in my studies, though I am focused on fermentation using genetically modified bacteria to convert levoglucosan to biochemical products. Before coming to the University of Georgia, I attended the University of Florida where I obtained Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, Economics, and Microbiology while participating in research on the generation of novel Au-Si nano-particles and surfaces with Dr. Peng Jiang.
